This Varese Sarabande 2-CD compliation featuring live performances from two rock & roll pioneers is a notable pairing in that both Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis are the supreme piano pumpers in their respective categories, Jerry Lee in the southern boogie woogie mode and Fats famously from New Orleans, which is piano central. Unfortunately these are live performances from a later stage in their careers and from a motley assortment of shows at that. Still both rockers sound energetic, being the pros that they are, and the backing bands are more than adequate. And since it's all live, one can only marvel at all the piano flash on display, especially from Jerry Lee who never gave less than his all when it came to banging those 88s. |
