Artist Overview
Guitarists Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero met in Mexico City, where they played together in the metal band Tierra Acida. The two decided to form a duo specializing in fast, rhythmic music played on classical guitars that drew from Latin, folk, Flamenco, and rock styles. A move to Dublin, Ireland improved the duo's lot. Through regular local performances, touring, and the release of several albums, Rodrigo y Gabriela gained a devoted following. Their 2006 self-titled effort entered the Irish Album Charts at #1.

Rodrigo (Sanchez) and Gabriela (Quintero) are two fast-fingered, Dublin-based, Mexicans with a unique sound created on acoustic guitars. Their music is difficult to define, straddling both world and rock, and often imbued with timeless Hispano--classical influences. The fire in it comes from their life-long passion for metal music.
