Every City Has Its Secrets.
The year is 44 B.C. Julius Caesar has been assassinated and civil war threatens to destroy the Republic. In the void left by Caesar's demise, egos clash and numerous players jockey for position. The brutally ambitious Mark Antony attempts to solidify his power, aligning himself with Atia, but coming to blows with her cunning son Octavian, who has been anointed in Caesar's will as his only son and heir. Meanwhile Titus Pullo attempts to pull his friend Lucius Vorenus out of the darkness that has engulfed his soul in the wake of personal tragedy. For once again, the fates of these two mismatched soldiers seem inexorably tied to the fate of Rome itself.

This five disc collection includes all 10 episodes from The Complete Second Season of Rome!

DVD Verdict 10 of 10
Rome upholds the tradition of HBO dramas such as The Sopranos, Deadwood, or The Wire with a sprawling cast and intricate storyline...I've seen my share of sword and sandal epics, but not until the joint HBO/BBC production of Rome did I feel that I was seeing ancient Rome as a living, breathing place. Like the best science fiction stories, Rome creates an immersive world all its own. This Rome is by turns dingy and grand, both familiar and alien. Above all, this Rome feels real. This being an HBO production, the sex and violence flow as freely as the wine in this version of ancient Rome...This is the sort of television series that shines on DVD because it's rich and entertaining enough for multiple viewings. Rome enthralls because it doesn't simply exist to show off fancy sets, CGI cityscapes, and period costumes. Beneath the historical trappings, we have a compelling story filled with interesting characters. - Neal Masri
