You have to be very careful how the beam is aimed as you could easily blind oncoming traffic, and it only lasts about 75 minutes on rechargable AAA batteries, but it casts a bright and wide beam that is excellent for night riding. We wind up using it more frequently as a flashlight while walking at night in the neighborhood. The whole body of the light is used as a heatsink for the LED, so it does get a little warm, but should make for a long lasting light. The adjustable beam can be focused down to the point you can see the shape of the chip, and the light goes probably 20 ft. into a heavily wooded area, so you can see eyeshine from all of the critters in the woods at night. I'd love to get another one for my bike, and probably will.
