Toast is Good, the rebates are rotten.1/28/2009
Haven't used the product in demanding situations but so far, so good. But to spoil the experience is Roxio's rejection of my rebate for a bogus reason. I have copies of everything and will go through the "re-try" process, but am also willing to file a complaint with our state attorney general if it comes to that. Had they not pulled that stunt I would have rated them a point higher.
A must have for Backup12/28/2008
Honestly, I don't use half of the features offered in the product. The one I do use and everyone should occasionally use is the data backup. Drag all the desired files to the Toast window and let the backup begin. You will be prompted to insert additional disks(CD or DVD) if needed. This spanning feature is a great way to backup data and store off premises. I use Time Machine but also prefer to have important pictures and data stored elsewhere in the event of a catastrophic loss.
Good, easy to use product10/22/2008
For most part, works as expected. Easy to use, at least for the basic features. Cannot comment on more advance features, as I have yet to use them. Good value, if bought on sale; a bit pricey otherwise. The only "downside" I found is the fact that "song finger printing" feature does not work on compressed (MP3 or AAC) songs; not sure what formats it does work with. Documentations / advertisements do not specify format limitations, so I expected the feature to work for MP3. Finding out that it does not was a bit of a disappointment. Still, overall this is a good product.
Toast 9 for Mac9/15/2008
I have a MacBook Pro and an HD TiVo and have wanted not only to be able to burn DVD's and CD's with more control but have wanted to take advantage of TiVo transfers to transfer recordings to my computer for archive and to burn to DVD or transfer to my iPod. Toast 9 works seamlessly and easily with my Mac and is brilliant! A perfect solution.
Excellent Product - Priced a Bit Too High7/17/2008
So far I have used this exclusively for burning audio CD's of downloaded and converted .flac and .shn recordings of live concerts. Toast is easy to use and performs flawlessly. It also writes quickly, although I haven't compared it's speed with iTunes write times directly. I think as time goes on I will explore other features of Toast. Another positive, you don't see much anymore, it comes with legitimate printed instructions - not just a "Getting Started" guide. Roxio also has a very good website. The only thing that I can really object to is the price. I happened to buy it on sale, but the regular price seems a bit high considering what it does. I would definitely recommend it - just get it on sale.
Best CD/DVD product out there7/16/2008
I just switched from PC to Mac. Having had Roxio products before on the PC, I had confidence this product would work exceptionally well. To my amazement, Toast is even better then the PC's Roxio Media Creator 9 if you can believe that! Toast makes everything easier, faster and is an exceptional buy especially with the current rebate. Don't settle for second best. Buy Toast. FYI, buying from BUY.com was also a breeze and delvery was fast, No problems whatsoever. Also, why did I wait so looong to switch to a Mac. Fanatastic!
More features, still some bugs7/14/2008
Most valuable new feature: can now encode Tivo video files to a disk image. Still does not take full advantage of multi-processor systems by encoding two or more videos at a time. Video editing feature is nice, but still needs some polishing; user controls get pixelated and are often unusable (small problem, not a deal killer). I look forward to the next version of Toast. In the meantime, this one will work.
Great for data backup7/13/2008
The primary use I see of this product is to backup data by spanning it over multiple disks.
Toast gives a warm toasty feeling4/20/2008
The software works great. Very intuitive and easy to use right out of the box. Buy.com had a great price and the service was spot on. Whole experience was what you want when you buy a product.
