Laced with mystery, Sam's Letters To Jennifer combines two unforgettable love stories in a novel that's absolutely impossible to put down.
Jennifer returns to the resort village where she grew up to help a beloved relative--and ends up experiencing not one but two of the most amazing love stories she's ever known.
The first is completely unexpected. In a series of letters that Jennifer finds, her relative reveals that she has concealed a huge secret for decades: Her great love is not the man she was married to for all those years. As Jennifer reads about this passionate partnership, she learns more about love's imperatives and secrets than she ever dreamed possible.
And then comes the biggest surprise of all. At a time when she thought she could never love again, Jennifer lets her guard down for a moment--and is suddenly caught up in the greatest flight of exhilaration she's ever known. But, just as suddenly, she learns that this new love comes with an unbearable cost. Jennifer doesn't think she can survive the pain--but the letters she's been reading make her think that love may help her find a way.
James Patterson grew up in Newburgh, New York, 50 miles north of New York City. Valedictorian of his class at the Christian Brothers school, St. Patrick's, in 1965, Patterson graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in English. He first entertained the idea of becoming a writer in 1971 when he worked as a college student in a mental institution, a job that afforded him abundant time to read. He came up with the idea for his first novel during that time, and five years later, after 26 rejection slips, his first effort, "The Thomas Berryman Number", appeared in bookstores. Since that time, Patterson has written numerous best-selling thrillers featuring the sensitive, modern-day hero Alex Cross, including "Kiss the Girls", which was made into a major motion picture starring Morgan Freeman.
"...[A]n uplifting novel, full of hope and the promise of unconditional love. Readers won't put down this truly emotional page-turner until the tissue box is empty."
From the Publisher
Crime novelist James Patterson explores his softer side in the tragic tearjerker SAM'S LETTERS TO JENNIFER. Chicago newspaper columnist Jennifer is still grieving the loss of both her husband and unborn child, when she receives the awful news that her best friend and grandmother, Sam, has been rushed to the hospital in a coma. Jennifer returns to her hometown to be by her grandmother's side, and there discovers over a hundred letters Sam has written to her, detailing the story of her one true love. While Jennifer tries to digest Sam's revelations, she begins to spend time with an old childhood playmate, Brendan, and attempts to take the first steps toward healing her grieving heart. A sentimental tale that purposely tries to push the reader to the Kleenex, Patterson's flashback-style love story is reminiscent of Nicholas Sparks's THE NOTEBOOK.
Grief-stricken by a recent tragedy, Jennifer returns to the resort village where she grew up to help her beloved grandmother. There, Jennifer will discover new meaning in life and experience not one, but two of the most amazing love stories ever.
