WiFi is bad3/27/2012
I bought this unit 6 months ago to watch Netflix. It was great in the beginning till about 2 months ago, when I watch Netflix it rebuffing every 2-3 minutes then said no connection. I have to click OK, select the episode and fast forward to where I left off.
Samsung Mfg Part#: BD-D6500/ZA3/23/2012
Paul's TV had a great price on this and fast shipping. The unit is GREAT except for the range of the wifi. Everyting else near the same spot works great online with the WIFI except this unit. Samsung Plasma, Wii and laptop. Can't streat hardly anything through the smarthub. Will probably keep because the movies play well and awesome picture & sound in 3D.
Fast boot time and good quality3/12/2012
Good deal. Best product for the price. Fast boot and easy setup.
Would buy again3/1/2012
Shipped quickly and no damage!
Unable to view any artwork when logged into Netflix. Samsung finally admits that there is a problem with the app (probably the most commonly used and important internet app!!). Awaiting a 'patch' which Samsung states is 'forthcoming' but will not provide me with any other information. Player is slow to load titles from queue. Overall internet interface is nice, however it is very SLOW to perform. For me, the 'jury' is still out... I will give the company a week or two longer before I return the unit to the retailer. I am in a state of disbelief that this brand new model has been placed on the market, yet its functionality is already significantly compromised.
I NEVER write reviews til now. Beautiful blu ray,,,but the reason I got it was for Netflix, says it's not connected online and to check my settings, well my connection was perfect & all the other apps worked fine. Then I searched why it wasn't connecting, boy did I read 100's of complaints of the same problem I'm getting. Samsung blames Netflix and vice versa. I'm pretty sure its a Samsung problem being I have other devices (not Samsung) connected to wifi and able to watch Netflix. So if your looking for just a blu ray, plays movies beautiful but if your looking for more don't buy Samsung!! Mine model wasn't the only one complained about when I was researching the reviews. I wish I could return this...I'm extremely disappointed.
Very good player, very stylish and fast loading the blue ray disc's 5 of 5 for all factors.
dmi cabl needed for best performance...but not included
ZA different than non ZA?9/10/2011
The initial offering BD-D6500 does not upconvert 2D to 3D (I found this out the hard way and had to return it). So, unless the ZA is different or there is some firmware upgrade I don't know about, you need to get the BD-D6700 to upconvert 2D to 3D.
No 2D to 3D Upconversion as Promised !!!8/26/2011
WATCH OUT --- The player does NOT upconvert 2D to 3D as promised. There is not even an option in player's utility. It gives you an option to down convert to 2D. The wireless connection and user setting interface is extremely slow. Very limited Apps, other than Netflix, Pandora and Youtube, rest of the free Apps are useless. The Blu-Ray quality is acceptable and it plays 3D.
Good value...a little lacking user interface8/6/2011
This is a good looking machine. Nice lines - svelte. It plays disks just fine. Blue-ray quality is as expected. Can't comment on 3D - don't have a 3D TV. Now, what I don't like is the clumsy user interface. Going to Netflix or Pandora, which I often do, takes too long. It's more like operating a computer than a disk player. My Insignia has Netflix and other options available on the home page - this player requires multiple clicks and time. My Universal Remote doesn't recognize it either, and can't seem to learn the codes. WiFi seems finicky.
Just What I Was Waiting For7/30/2011
I have been waiting for the right Blu-Ray player to come along, and so far, I think this was a great choice. Comes WiFi operational, has multiple streaming options, and picture is great! Very quiet & no fans to deal with (i.e. PS3 player). We view it on a 102" projector screen & it looks great.
