Customer Reviews of Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 120GB 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive
Standard Disk Upgrade10/21/2014
So far I have about 20 computers running with EVO 840 without any problems. It's faster than most of cheap SSDs.
Fast, reliable SSD...have not had one fail yet. Always go to Samsung for the latest in SSD technology...not disappointed.
Can't get enough of these SSDs!5/12/2014
After I added this drive's bigger brother (500 GB) to my desktop, I couldn't resist adding one to my laptop as well. These drives are FAST and silent and definitely increase the performance of any computer using a traditional HD. I was able to convert my Windows 8.1 drive to the SSD using the software provided. This drive does NOT include the adapter needed to transfer the files from the HD to the SSD (but luckily I already had the adapter that came with it's bigger brother). My only 'wish' is that the adapter be included in EVERY SSD sold so that people won't have their excitement delayed when they go to upgrade to this great new technology.
I replaced some Kingston SSD drives, and think the performance is better.
Super Easy Install4/20/2014
Just installed this today. Samsung's Data Migration utility works GREAT. Even though it specified a USB connection, an eSATA hookup worked fine. FYI: 1) it will correctly migrate a boot drive, which is really handy 2) the USB mounting kit doesn't come with this version. Buy separately or, for a desktop, use a separate SATA cable. So far, the hard drive is very fast and the utility that comes with it seems to work well for optimizing it. Taking off one overall point because it doesn't come with the transfer kit, and the instructions blithely ignore that. A bet a bunch of people end up going back to order an external enclosure / mounting kit of some kind.

After trying many SSD's, the 840 EVO is by far the2/4/2014
I've been eyeing this drive for about 6 months and decided to try some of the less expensive drives that had speed ratings close to the 840 evo. First tried an ocz vertex 3 60gb and it was a decent upgrade from the vertex 2 (due to sata 6gb/s). Decided I needed a 120gb drive so found the Kingston SSDNow V300 120gb for 69.99 and while it did perform better than the vertex 3, it still wasn't as good as it claimed or I expected. So finally got a good deal on the 840 evo, installed it quickly with the bundled software, then configured it properly w the magician software and it SCREAMS!! Benchmarks max at over 500mb/s and sequential/file benchmarks are over 1000mb/s! Instant notice in windows boot time, app load time, file transfer time vs the kingston! Don't look anywhere else, samsung is dominating the ssd world just like most of their other products!
No adapter in the package2/4/2014
This is the first SSD I buy, did some research before to make sure it is easy to install. The online demo video I found says Samsung SSD come with a USB to SATA adapter. The instruction also mentions using adapter to connect and clone the current hard drive. But surprisingly, this deal does not include adapter. I end up spend $20 to buy an enclosure (don’t want to wait another 1 week, otherwise should be able to get one around $5 online). If you want to buy this product, better look for a SATA enclosure the same time. Other than that little disappointment, everything works fine. The migration is effortless and it makes my first gen Acer netbook run like a new laptop and the battery life almost doubled.
Love these SSDs12/30/2013
Some of the best SSDs available - I tried various brands and am currently exclusively purchasing Samsung SSDs either the 840 Pros or the EVOs due to their stability, performance, warranty and quality. No problems with any of these so far and have purchased and installed over 30.
Great drive once its installed10/25/2013
The good: Its fast The bad: Shockingly, the migration tool Samsung provides did not work. I could not boot my machine. Windows 8. The tool does not copy, at least for me, the windows boot partition which is separate from the actual windows OS partition. I had to get another clone tool which copied all the partitions then the system booted up Bad Samsung. Hard to fathom. They will sell millions of these. It was almost maddening to spend so much time on something that should have just worked. At least if someone reads this and runs into the same problem, they will know what the problem is
