Fast and cheap7/9/2013
Super fast and great price.
Not a top-performer, but my mobo doesn't have SATA6 anyway and it is still much faster than any conventional HDD out there
Excellent Drive for the $$$4/22/2013
Easy to clone and put in my older Dell Studio laptop. Man took it to a 28 second boot and click on a program bang its there!!! Yes it replaced a larger capacity hard drive but face it average user like myself still almost half empty.
I purchased this drive to replace the mechanical drive in my ColorSpace UDMA device. For those not familiar with ColorSpace drives, they are designed for photographers who wish to download CF/SD cards in the field without a laptop. The drive works perfectly and although it does not extend battery life or is any lighter than my normal drive it gives me peace of mind that if the unit is dropped, the likelihood of a drive failure is greatly reduced.
fits well in small, places very fast. powerful notice the difference right away. it was like i had just bought a super computer data rate transfer speeds was like nothing iv seen. it turned my slow three year computer into a speed track was faster and ran better than when i bought it.
Good fast drive2/19/2013
Decent drive. My other is Samsung 840 so I have something to compare with. Even with the fastest Intel i7 and all the known settings enable, I was not able to replicate the speed shown by some on the web. On AS SSD, my max score was 486, no where near the 900+ other are having. Some simple tweaks were done to get from 145 to my 486 score, namely from Sata to ACHI on the motherboard. Raid mode did not improve as well as cache settings. Overall, I'm happy with the startup and app speed.
Used as the Windows drive on my computer, really increased the speed of the system
I've installed close to 100+ of these drives. No issues, incredible performance. Turning 5-6 year old computers and laptops into blazing fast, better than new! I love them. I'm so happy to see the price drop!
Wow! BLAZING fast, and what a bargain!9/9/2012
Been wanting an SSD for awhile, couldn't afford one. Then I see this one, couldn't resist. Easily cloned my HDD, then swapped. OMG, the login appears before the Windows tune even finishes! Haven't benchmarked, but it is at least 10X faster than the 5200 rpm drive I had. Yeah, only 120 gb, but I only had used 97gb of my 320, and use externals for storage. My only "Con" is that I didn't order two at this price. Buy one, won't regret it!
Works just as expected. Very very fast. It was interesting to install, don't forget to resize your original drive to 120 GB or less if you expect to image it to this ssd. I did not do that, so had to reinstall Linux on my laptop. Good deal for a good drive.
ONE FAST SSD DRIVE!8/22/2012
If you are looking for a reliable ssd drive, this is the one for you. I installed into my laptop and did a clean install. I left out all of the bloatware that Toshiba had on the old hard disk. Now my laptop is as fast as the new ultra laptops. Maybe even faster! I recommend this ssd drive to anyone who wants a super product at a very affordable price!
Plug in and play8/13/2012
Using this to run my OS, so far, no problem installing or using it for last few days. It is certainly a lot faster especially power on and off. Used to run CS5 photoshop on another SSD for 3 years and never had a problem.
maybe not fastest but works fine so far.6/27/2012
maybe not fastest but works fine so far... it take a while to install it. u need to install the system totally new on it and use it well so far but not that fast. I am thinking to buy another one when it gets lower price to build a raid then. Hope it will improve the speed more.
Defective and slow6/4/2012
I received two drives from buy.com. The first one was defective, it constantly frozen up intermittently. I updated firmware, etc, but cannot make it work properly. I spent two days to pinpoint what caused the freeze up. It was the SanDisk Drive. I got a replacement for the first one. The second one did not freeze up, but quite slower than other brands, Kingston Hyper X and Kingston SSDNow V100+. I bought it based on the on-line feedbacks, but the feedbacks are no quite true. There are many better faster and reliable drives for about the same price as this such as by crucial, samsumg, intel, and kingston. I think SanDisk uses the same name as their highly rated compact flash drive Extremes, but the " Extreme" on the SSD is an obvious mislead.
Flawless Install & Performance6/2/2012
Bought this about six months ago to breathe life into an older HP convertible tablet TX20US. Clean Windows 7 install was under 20 minutes. It took longer to download the updates afterwards. Obviously, my notebook doesn't take full advantage of the SATA III, but it's still tons faster than it was. From power on to log-in screen is about 40 seconds & log-in to a usable desktop is less than 15 seconds! Battery life has improved from about three hours to about five hours, or so. I should have bought two or more!
Very Nice SSD5/19/2012
This drive was installed in my current 13" Macbook Pro and I have had excellent results. After 6 months: No hang ups; no problems going in and out of sleep; everything is SO much faster. Bootup is less than 30 seconds; Firefox opens nearly instantly; About this Mac loads instantly; Disk Utility permission repair runs in under a minute; multitasking is smoother; just overall snappiness. The first thing I showed to a friend when he scoffed at the price was to open every single app in my dock at once (multiple browsers, the CS-3 suite, final cut, all of the iLife programs, LibreOffice). While on my old HDD I probably would have sat there loading forever, this time I didn't even get a pinwheel. Even my websites would load quicker. I've noticed my system backups are quicker when writing to an external harddrive using a Firewire 800 port, and my DVD ripping is about 15% quicker.
Best bang for the buck!5/15/2012
If you're new to SSDs and building or upgrading your PC, just buy this drive. I spent way too much time trying to troubleshoot an OCZ drive and decided to buy this instead. So far, it has the same stellar reliability as my Sandisk MicroSD and flash drive.
Hope Sandisk can save SF controllers5/8/2012
Sandisk earned its name in flash drives and camera storages such as CF card and SD card. People buy Sandisk for a reason: realiability and consistent performance. Sand force controller has been talked quite a bit in the market: some says it is fantastic, but some comments that the firmware is way from maturity. The benchmark is not as good as other SF-2281 equipted SSDs from companies like OCZ and Corsair, but I buy Sandisk for a reason: reputation for reliability. User experience wise, I cannot tell a difference between OCZ vertex 3 and this Sandisk Extreme. Blue screen? Not once till now
For anyone on the fence, this drive is the best upgrade for the dollar. It allows almost instant access to applications and a quick 15 boot time. The power consumption is extremely low at 1W and of course it's silent. I currently have this installed on a PC running Windows 7 (new clean install). The only thing now...is that my wife wants one too for her computer!
This replaced a smaller intel ssd in a desktop. The transition was seemless and performance great.
Woke up my sleepy old laptop5/5/2012
This drive is incredible. i purchased it because I was tired of waiting 3 to 4 minutes for my laptop to boot up. I knew that it would make a difference in boot up and shut down times, but I didn't think it would make such a huge difference on an older laptop (Dell D630 with Sata 1.5) The computer now boots in less than 30 seconds with Windows 7 64bit, and applications launch instantly. The computer also wakes from hybernation almost instantly. I just wish I had bought this sooner.
INVEST & UPGRADE TO THIS SSD. IT'S WORTH IT!5/1/2012
Replaced 2 Samsung 2.5" hard drives in my MacBook Pro 2011. The system has amazing boot & shutdown times compared to what this system used to do for me. Overall system performance is increased not just startup & shutdown, everything is quicker. Battery life increased! Clocked at the advertised SATA III speed. Used for my VMware & Citrix Lab on my MBP. I purchased 2 (Raid 0), on sale for $110 each. The reason why I bought this SanDisk SSD is because all of the other nice reviews on other sites. I also own the current Intel 520, Samsung 830, and Crucial M4 SSD's, and I honestly can say on my behalf the SanDisk Extreme is at the same level or a bit higher the other brands mentioned! 3 Year Limited Warranty is also nice and generous, a big plus!
Great Toggle NAND Drive so far...4/26/2012
Just got this drive today and put it through its paces in a desktop built in 2007, so SATA2 speed is all I can get. Even so, Crystalmark is showing sequential speeds @ 3x and 4k IOPS @ 50-100x my HDD. (I'd post the actual numbers, but Buy.com does not allow for any readable formatting of such data in a review.) This drive came unformatted, but took all of 5 seconds to format using Windows' built in Disk Management Util. Chkdsk ran clean and S.M.A.R.T. is reporting 0 reallocations so far. Bought this drive to run my OS in my upcoming build. I have only had this drive one day, and will update if I have any problems. So far it runs problem free with Win8 CP. The drive came in a tiny box in a waterproof bubble wrap envelope and does NOT come with a 3.5 adapter bracket or sata cables, so plan accordingly. Actual useable space is ~112GB (Only storage companies still cling to decimal.) If you're still on the fence about SSD, it is an upgrade you_will_notice in ANY computer that supports SATA.
