Windows 7 x64 and Vista x86 machines both had trouble accessing the NAS. Sessions were dropped resulting in system instability (i.e. Explorer freezes as do applications with documents open on the NAS). Firmware upgrade (to v 2000.0631) made synchronizing files possible (without upgrade not possible); driver upgrade caused BSOD on Windows 7 machine, requiring a System Restore to undo the damage (uninstalling the driver didn't work either). Calling support was worthless (only phone support, chat does not support product, but they only tell you that once the session starts); their only answer is the problem is with Windows / your PC etc and the NAS is fine. Glad I can return to Buy.com.

Good Machine if You Learn It

by Derrick on 6/29/2011

I've been testing the BlackArmor 220 along with the Iomega and Buffalo counterparts, and have grown to like the BlackArmor quite a bit. It isn't as easy to get to know; I had to read the user manual to set it up. But once configured, it's solid. I use the web interface to access my documents remotely. All of the clients for the BlackArmor are Macs running Snow Leopard, and they interact with it just fine, both on the LAN and remotely over the Internet. The admin tools are pretty good too. I connect external drives through the USB ports for sharing or for upload (drives need to be DOS formatted). IMO, this is a professional drive that would be a good fit for small businesses and families.
