I bought this HD for its price, capacity and sleek styling. It has however proved to be highly unreliable... First of all, there is no on-off switch, and it keeps on resetting itself periodically (according to the Seagate rep, it is designed to do so). This is what results from this unfortunate feature: I am downloading a movie (legally, of course), and the HD shuts itself down--then, on some sites, the download is aborted!
Second, my unit started making this clicking noise after about a month of use. Eventually, my PC stopped recognizing the HD altogether (which indicates that the HD is dead). Seagate's support has been quite frustrating to deal with, as well. There are so many good, reliable external HDs in this price range, so I'd urge you to consider them.
