Customer Reviews of Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Home 1TB NAS Hard Drive
Well it is a little bit pricey this one terabyte of extra external hard drives memory space is a very useful thing is just too bad that I don't believe it is compatible with Apple computers such as MacBooks and IMAcs. I would recommend it to many people though if they can afford it.
Should have bought this a long time ago.
I had already brought a couple of Seagate before and it really works well. Though I had heard negative reviews about them years ago, I still took one Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1TB after I had found a good review on it from http://www.solidstateharddrivereview.org. It was almost two months ago, but it is still working fine and I never encounter any flaws on it.
Could do better1/5/2012
I just set this up for my boss, problem with the software is the instant backups. If you accidentally delete a file from your computer, it is also deleted with in a few seconds off the backup drive. You cant go back an hour or a day to get an older version of a file if you mess up the one you are working on. You could get better software, use backup software that comes in windows, or just use it as a network drive and manually copy your files to it. It was also a bit confusing, it says wireless backup for your computers. The device it self has no wireless capabilities, it just plugs into the wireless router they assume you already own.
fair to poor preformance10/5/2010
There are two major issues with this unit. 1) There is vertially no instructions included with the unit for Memeo instant backup. If you have a problem with the files transfering to the hard drive there is no really good way of finding out how to correct. Which brings me to the second problem. 2) I have two computers one operating on XP and the other on vista. The xp somewhat operates but very slow. The vista keeps droping out and has to be restarted. A call to the help line simply ended in that they could not help but given the number of complaints on the same problem the person I was talking to hoped that their staff would takea look at the problem !!!! That is some answer. My solution was to simply use it a a hard drive and can the Memeo program. Not what I wanted but it works. My recomendation is don't buy network version get a hard drive.
Easy to use10/3/2010
Set up with their software was incredibly easy. It immediately recognized my network. Throws a good wifi signal- all my UpN devices recognized it with no problems at all. The dashboard software is OK- a good starting point to understand the offerings that come with the unit. I liked the memeo back up software package. All in all, a good deal.
