Customer Reviews of Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Home 2TB Network Storage System
Early to tell (it's only been in use for a week)- but the product seems to perform as advertised. Saves the data alright, but said data is very difficult to track down & recover. The path seems pretty straightforward for one computer, but finding it for a second on the network is an arduous process. Still in the learning curve, tho- maybe with some more time to investigate I'll figure the tricks needed to streamline the process.
Dishonest seller. Avoid1/29/2013
Was shipped an open box instead of a new item. When it came it was poorly packed in a damaged original box and was dead on arrival. Seagate customer service was good. Easy to get a hold off. They ar replacing the item. Will never buy from this seller again
I expected better from Seagate. Compared to others I've used, it is difficult to set up and you have to install proprietary software to access files stored on it.
This is a great USB Hard drive. It is amazingly fast and the installation is a breeze. My Windows system recognized it immediately and I was able to use it in seconds. The shipment was on time and price is pretty good. I would definately recomend this drive to anyone looking for storage.
The product worked for about 2 weeks. Now it powers up but is not accessable.
Setup through my PC was simple and quick. Then connected my Mac and iTouch. No problem. Picked up on my BD Player so I can stream movies and music. As long as it keeps working like it is I am happy.
Easy to Setup5/6/2012
Drive was easy to setup and works as expected
I never write reviews, but had to one this one.5/2/2012
I felt i needed to provide a community service and let people know about this product. I think the current review status of 4.5 stars is way out of line on this product. It has extremely bad software with the product. at best you'll just use it as a another hard drive on your system and not have any of the features you bought it for. But don't trust my word on it, just Google goflex home Domain name may not end in '.' You'll have all the answers you need. And good luck contacting support. I thought it was a good price for 2TB and the features promised so I gave that 2 stars, the rest i was forces to only go as low as 1. I was looking for the negative number but they don't have that option. I am feeling that many of the previous reviews were paid reviewers.
So far so good4/26/2012
Very easy to set up with a wired connection to my router. The drive was recognized in about 90 seconds and setup with the CD that came in the package was simple...just follow the prompts. Seems fairly slow pulling up large photo files over the network, but that may be due more to my wireless speed than the drive itself
Good Price but a bit slow and setup is not that ea4/25/2012
Good price for 2GB simple NAS. You can even attach either another USB external drive to increase storage or a USB printer to make it network enabled. Accessing files is slower than my expectation (I have Gigabit network at home). Manual did not mention anything about setup through Web Configuration interface (which I prefer). But if you are using the provided software for setup, it should be easy.
Easy path to a vast shared storage space4/23/2012
I simply plugged the NAS drive into power and my network switch, ran the install CD, and immediately began using the vast storage space. Super easy to setup and get going with no issues. Next I will add additional computers and users and start taking advantage of the FTP features. Very, very powerful, yet quite simple to use.
so far, so good!4/3/2012
Easy setup on both PC (Vista and 7) and MAC. Haven't tried the free mobile apps that let you stream certain file types. The only negative point so far is that it shows up twice on my network, once as a Windows device and again as a MAC device. No bid deal, just a slight annoyance.
Seagate Network Storage4/2/2012
Good item; this refurbished item works well and I anticipate saving electrical costs by not needing to run a full SAN server for this much storage
Good drive software not so much3/30/2012
drive works as stated. the software that loads for it if you load it. Is a pain to use and eats up a lot of space.
Great solution for the home. Wish the drive would just appear as another drive on my desktop (MAC) but, it's a great solution just the same.
I'm spoiled...I am all Apple where things just seem to work. I also expect to use devices without having to read a 70 page US. This NAS device did not come with a CD. I had to contact a Seagate tech support staff (during their open hours), get them to send me a link to an email that I then had to download to configure the device to work with my Mac. Since installing, I have had to rest my router 5 times due to IP conflcts. Keeps grabbing my mac's IP. I bet I can get around this but still..
Excellent Item, but...2/27/2012
I have been using one of these for about a year. I liked it and it performed just as I wanted. This deal came along and I couldn't resist. I found out these drives were mean't to be one only in a network. Be aware there are work arounds but they aren't for everyone. Thats why the 4 ease of use.
Appears to be well made, but too dependant on bundled software. I'm a bit of a control freak and I don't like having to use programs that auto start and phone home for updates or whatever.
I like this product
Save a lot from refurb product.
Good price for GoFlex Home 2TB2/20/2012
Tested refurb 2TB Seagate GoFlex Home on arrival, worked perfectly. Configured it from Linux using the browser UI, did not install the Seagate dashboard software yet.
I like it compared to my Passport2/19/2012
Until I buy this I was using USB based external hard disk. I am using GoFlex home 2T for the last 2 months, it look cool, easy to setup and use .I can access it from my PC, iPod and Sony Briva HX729 TV and Sony S480 Blu-ray player. I can access external hard disk also remotely by connecting it to GoFlex home. It is serving my purpose and I am happy with it. The only issue I am facing is if I try to copy files from my PC via wireless, whole network goes down (all devices gets disconnected from my wireless router and router restarts). It may be an issue with my old wireless router. So when I want to copy files to GoFlex home I connect my laptop using Ethernet cable - it is working fine and faster compare to copying via wireless.
