Jory Ryan--that's how she thought of herself now--finally gave in to the tremors she'd been holding in check during the past hour, but still fought her tears back. The front she'd managed to put up for Ross when he'd asked for a divorce was the hardest thing she'd ever done, harder than going through the miscarriage, harder than going off alone, harder than living alone, working and going to night school. Harder than getting through her estranged father's funeral. But she'd done it, she thought. She'd not only persevered, but had prevailed, even when he'd tried to ease his own conscience by buying her off. (from the first line)
SERENDIPITY transforms a heartbroken girl into a proud, sophisticated woman...

Six years ago, Jory Ryan Landers fled Philadelphia after a brief, tragic marriage to wealthy Ross Landers. Now Jory has come home to make peace with the past. And to face an uncertain future.

With the unexpected jolt of a brief summer storm, Jory falls for Ross's best friend...and becomes entangled with the Landers family and the business she ran away from.

Author Bio
Fern Michaels
Fern Michaels grew up in Hastings, Pennsylvania, got married, and had five children before she picked up a pen to begin writing what would turn out be one best-selling romance after another. One of the most consistent bestselling romance writers of the '80s and '90s, Michaels writes mostly steamy historical romances with heavy doses of passion, seduction, and torrid adultery. Divorced from her first husband, she dedicates much of her time to philanthropic concerns, having set up the Fern Michaels Foundation, which grants scholarships to students in need. She also set up affordable pre-school and day-care centers for struggling single mothers.
