Editor's Note
SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO is a hard-hitting, frequently funny story of criminality and culture clashes. Two martial arts experts crack heads as they crack down on a gang of Japanese drug runners.

BLOODSPORT: Based on a true story, this martial arts adventure takes place during a secret competition that settles the World Championship of a particularly bloody--not to mention illegal--sport.

Professional Reviews 8 of 10
[Bloodsport] Bloodsport is an entertaining martial arts movie. Personally, I prefer Kickboxer, due to the fact that it just seems more gritty, sure Ray Jackson goes to hospital, but unlike Eric Sloane, no serious damage is done. And while Chong Li is a nasty piece of work, he isn't the truly hate-worthy rapist that was Tong Po. The training scenes also do not go into the depth of KB, and those that are shown are nowhere near as entertaining. Fans of Van Damme really should see it, as it is where he made a name. Unfortunately, it also features a shot of his naked butt. Out of order. 6 of 10
[Showdown] A silly but busy action film stars Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee, as cops who are trying to break up yakuza activity in Los Angeles. They rarely try to arrest people, however, preferring instead to beat them up or kill them. The plot is illogical (the bad guys are going to distribute drugs around the country in beer bottles), but there are more than enough fight sequences and other genre delights to hold viewers in search of an escape from thinking. - Doug Pratt

DVD Net 7 of 10
[Showdown] Lee and Lundgren share a great on-screen chemistry, with the late Brandon Lee dispensing some great, although corny, one liners right throughout the film. The video and audio transfers are both reasonably clean and don't suffer from any terribly distracting faults, even though they are far from perfect.

It definitely isn't of the same calibre of such classics as Lethal Weapon, but Showdown in Little Tokyo certainly holds its ground as a very entertaining B-grade action flick. If you're a fan of such genres, or like the idea of Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee teaming up together, than this DVD is well worth checking out. - Nathan Clark
