A father''s murder and a son''s ruthless betrayal are at the heart of this latest Thorn novel from a master of suspense ("Publishers Weekly").
From the Publisher:
After his father, Earl Hammond, is shot dead and two deviant contract killers kidnap Thorn, a family heir, it is up to Frisco Hammond and his brother's wife to solve the two crimes, an endeavor which pits brother against brother and wife against husband. By the Edgar Award-winning author of Hell's Bay. Reprint. 50,000 first printing.
Annotation:
Everyone has ideas for how he should spend his newly acquired load of cash, but Thorn likes what his girlfriend Rusty proposes--that he protect 300 square miles of Florida everglades from development. In order for this to work however, Earl Hammond's game-hunting ranch would have to be shut down. Before the deal can go through, however, Hammond is shot and Thorn gets kidnapped. Let the adventure begin. Shamus-winning novelist James W. Hall keeps the twists, turns, and enjoyable suspense coming in SILENCER, the 11th book in this series.

Praise

"James W. Hall ranks at the top echelon of Florida mystery writers....[T]he writer's solid plotting, affinity for characters and concern for Florida's ecology never fail to make for an exciting story....The superlative SILENCER continues those high standards while also exploring issues of loyalty and respect -- to family and the land." - Oline Cogdill 02/02/2010

"Hall steadily ratchets the suspense while seamlessly combining elements of Florida's natural history with elements of the state's early development and overdevelopment." (starred review) 11/23/2009
