They've Done it Again!

by Amazon_Bard on 12/26/2004

I am so happy! This is one of my all time favorite shows... The writers of this show are amazing. They are great at making a political statement without being all preachy and stuff. In addition to the great writing the actors are wonderfully talented; it is amazing to listen to them do their thing. After 16 years one may think that the Simpson’s has become old and drab, I am not one of those souls, and I love this show now as much as I did when it first came out. Season five, as with all other seasons of the Simpson’s absolutely rocks...here’s the lowdown for others like me who love this show: "THE SIMPSONS" THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON DVD Special Features: All episodes are compiled on four discs (full frame, aspect ratio 1.33:1). Each episode is presented with English 5.1 Surround, Spanish Dolby Surround/Stereo, French Dolby Surround and Spanish subtitles. Best One Yet!

As Matt Groenig says in the preface of all seasons of the Simpson’s, this is the best DVD set yet! I guess that is true. They do seem to get better and better. The biggest improvement in the DVD's themselves is the inclusion of the deleted scenes. The earlier seasons did not have them. Sometimes while listening to the commentary on the earlier seasons, I will hear someone mention that "oh we had a great scene here that we had to delete" or "this scene was originally much longer". Well, why not include them?? It took about 4 or 5 years for them to figure it out, but at least they are doing a better job now. The episodes themselves need no critique'. Everyone knows the Simpson’s are awesome! Read More

Product Overview

Fox's ever-popular slacker family from the fictional town of Springfield continue their antics in the fifth season of the animated series.

Clever, dry humor, peppered with pop-culture references and witty inside jokes with the audience, continue to characterize this smart show. The Simpsons Season 5includes all 22 episodes on 4 discs plus director, cast and crew commentaries, deleted scenes, and bonus materials.

ReviewSource The DVD Report
Review As the longest running animated show in history, and the longest running prime-time show of any type, The Simpsons is an American treasure - a combination of humor, wit, and satire that examines not just the lives of its eccentric characters, but also the society, culture, and world in which we live. Fun for adults and children alike, The Simpsons is a cutting edge television comedy that, like Seinfeld, altered the television landscape in the 1990's by dictating a new genre of TV fun that spawned network investment in new animated series such as King of the Hill, Futurama, and The Family Guy...Like all new things which smash the paradigm of life, The Simpsons is unrivaled by its knockoffs, and the show doesn't show signs of slowing down.
