After purchasing the first season on DVD from BUY.COM, I will be very excited to see what the second season has in store. My memory is a little fuzzy, so I am sure I will see episodes which will bring back fond memories. Anyone who enjoys comedy should own this DVD set.

- quote

As any true Simpsonite knows, Season 1 was spent largely on discovering, fine-tuning and polishing the characters we now know and love. At first the show centered on Bart's anti-heroic ways, but in the Second Season, it finally started focusing more on Homer's bumbling and sheer idiocy. Even his character differs from the Homer of the first season (he was originally far more mean-spirited than dim-witted). If you love the present-day Simpsons, you will adore the second season.

Editors Note
Note With the second season of the animated sitcom THE SIMPSONS, the show really began to come into its own with the animation becoming more fluid and the writing providing more laughs. This incredibly funny second season includes such memorable moments as Homer eating a deadly blowfish and James Earl Jones reading Edgar Allen Poe's THE RAVEN. Among the classic episodes included are "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" "Bart Gets Hit By a Car," "Bart the Daredevil," "The Simpsons Halloween Special," and "Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment."

Reviews
ReviewSource The DVD Report
Review As the longest running animated show in history, and the longest running prime-time show of any type, The Simpsons is an American treasure - a combination of humor, wit, and satire that examines not just the lives of its eccentric characters, but also the society, culture, and world in which we live. Fun for adults and children alike, The Simpsons is a cutting edge television comedy that, like Seinfeld, altered the television landscape in the 1990's by dictating a new genre of TV fun that spawned network investment in new animated series such as King of the Hill, Futurama, and The Family Guy...Like all new things which smash the paradigm of life, The Simpsons is unrivaled by its knockoffs, and the show doesn't show signs of slowing down.
