The Sin City graphic novels are among the most widely acclaimed comics in history, but Frank Miller is also a master of the quick and dirty yarn. Collected in this sixth volume of his crime-comic megahit are all of Miller''s Sin City shorts and one-shots, newly redesigned with a brand-new cover by Miller, some of his first comics art in years! Collecting classics like "Just Another Saturday Night" and "Silent Night," both starring the iconic big lug with a condition, Marv; "The Customer Is Always Right," featured in the Sin City film; and "The Babe Wore Red," starring Sin City''s most enduring hero, Dwight, Booze, Broads, and Bullets spans every kind of dark business you might encounter on a cold night in Basin City. It''s sure to scratch your Sin City itch again and again, in just that way that makes you itch for more. With Miller and co-director Robert Rodriguez gearing up for Sin City 2, this third edition is being released at just the right time!
From the Publisher:
The most diverse volume of Sin City material available, Booze, Broads, & Bullets, showcases Frank Miller's vignettes and color experiments from throughout the years of his groundbreaking crime series, and includes art created especially for the original collection. A good entry point for new readers wondering what Sin City is all about - or longtime readers who can't get enough - Miller has painted a gritty, decadent, and gloriously dirty portrait. Have a taste of the city ... just one little taste. Just one.
Annotation:
The pistol-packing prostitutes of Sin City's Old Town are free agents, owing nothing either to pimps or to the mob, and they're prepared to fight to keep it that way. But their fragile truce with the police threatens to shatter when a particularly thuggish cop named Jackie-Boy gets killed on their turf. War is about to erupt on the streets, unless the ladies' leader, Gail; their crack assassin, Miho; and a not-so-white-knight, ex-con Dwight, can prevent the police from getting their hands on the evidence (i.e., Jackie-Boy's corpse). Perfectly complementing the brutally satisfying text, the stylized black-and-white art--a study in sharp contrasts reminiscent of woodcuts--pulls no punches. This noir graphic novel is the third story arc in the Sin City series, and its plot serves as one of the three storylines used in the 2005 SIN CITY film, starring Rosario Dawson as Gail, Clive Owen as Dwight, and Benicio del Toro as Jackie-Boy.
