don not buy it if you need the mic8/27/2013
i bought two of them because i know that they are very fragile, the headphone jack works great but the mic on both of them did not works, every time the light blinks (it blinks all the time during calls) yo can hear a horrible sound! if you just need the headphone jack they work fine.

Works perfectly, great price!5/30/2011
I have a Plantronics headset that I use with Skype, and which came with a USB adapter with headphone and mic jacks. That USB adapter had problems connecting (I had to wiggle it in the USB slot), the mic jack stopped working after about 3 weeks (I just used my laptop's mic jack), and then it completely died after about a year. I got this adapter, plugged it in, and it just worked. Sound quality is fine, same as (or better than) when I plug the headset into the laptop's regular headphone/mic jacks. I can leave the main speakers as the default sound for output while using the USB headset for Skype.
Worth the price...5/10/2011
Well, it works... kind of. However the stereo outputs on mine are reversed and the "27 environment effects" are nowhere to be found. But the price is right and it's very easy to use. On Windows Vista, just plug it in. The software downloads automatically and it's ready to use.
Unusable, really bad. Defective Unit?4/3/2011
The volume control doesn't change the volume (yes, I'm adjusting the correct input), and the microphone input constantly feeds a shrill, harsh, high pitched sound that is always at full volume. It hurts my ears. Of course, adjusting the mic volume does nothing. I'm using a headset. Other people's reviews are good, so either there are fraudulent reviews or my unit is defective.
This adapter actually works12/25/2010
I had a few headphone/mics that had the jacks. My Macs only like the headphone jack. I decided to look for an adapter. I found this. It looks cheap and I had to push hard on the jack to seat it properly, but it works very well. Now I can use all my mics and headsets.
