Acclaimed Canadian rockers the Cliks made a name on the Toronto circuit before garnering wider fame with a contribution to the soundtrack for the Showtime series, THE L WORD. The Cliks' transgendered leader, Lucas Silveira, croons heartfelt verses of loss and transition over the band's jagged, guitar-driven soundscapes on their debut release, SNAKEHOUSE. Among the album's treats (and indicative of the Cliks' pop sensibility) is a melancholy rendition of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River." Artist Overview
Hailing from Toronto, this edgy rock quartet went through many changes on its path to its critically lauded 2007 debut, SNAKEHOUSE, not least of which was lead singer Lilia Silveira changing her self-identification from female to male (and her name to Lucas). As Silveira asserts, "Rock is the best place to be who you are." That individuality and defiance came through in its live shows, as the fiery rockers turned the ears of Silver Records and earned a cult following as the band continuously expanded its musical breadth, throwing in echoes of everything from the Pretenders to Talking Heads to Echo.
