When a cartoon appears in the school newspaper making fun of his tendancy to talk a lot, Mac, the goalie for the Cougars soccer team, is determined to find out who is responsible. *Author: Christopher, Matt *Series Title: Matt Christopher Sports Fiction *Publication Date: 1998/01/01 *Number of Pages: 133 *Binding Type: Hardbound *Grade Level: 4-6 *Language: English *Depth: 0.50 *Width: 5.25 *Height: 7.50
From the Publisher:
Mac is the best goalie on the team--and he's not afraid to let everyone know it. Then someone on the school paper creates a new comic strip that caricatures Mac and his performance on and off the field, sending him on a chase for the artist before things get out of hand.
Annotation:
Mac is the best goalie on his school's soccer team--and he knows it--but this knowledge has turned him into quite a showoff. When an unsigned comic strip appears in the school paper mocking Mac's conceited attitude, he is sure one of his teammates is the anonymous artist. Determined to find out who is making fun of him, Mac investigates the motives of all of his teammates.
Author Bio
Matt Christopher
Matt Christopher was a semiprofessional baseball player until an injury permanently benched him. His first book, THE LUCKY BASEBALL BAT, was published in 1954. Christopher's specialty is writing children's books with a sports theme--not just limited to his personal specialty, baseball, but also football, hockey, basketball, and a variety of other sports. His more recent works, while still focusing on a sports theme, have also added elements of mystery, fantasy, and the supernatural.
