Editor's NoteTripping over her lover's wooden legs, Grandma Peggy has met her maker and now her Texan family is showing up for the funeral. With a raucous cast of characters ranging from feuding big-haired sisters to the cross-dressing Brother Boy, SORDID LIVES skewers Texan white trash culture. The film marks the directorial debut of Del Shores, the writer-producer of the television program TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL.

Don't miss this sleeper6/30/2003
I'd never heard of this movie but was intrigued by the description of a black perspective of white trash. I was blown away. If one of these characters doesn't remind you of someone you know--you need to get out more (parden the pun). The portrayal of Brother Boy deserves an Academy award. I plan to buy this movie ASAP, and might even invest in a Tammy Wynette CD! This is the best thing since Slingblade!! Do yourself a favor and view this if you're not easily offended.
Laughter through Tears4/17/2003
Hopefully people can somewhat feel the pain and the humor with which this movie places so candidly in our laps. I can relate coming from a southern family and having a gay son who has suffered a great deal because of the `word`. My husband and I laughed so much, sometime through tears. It was a wonderful experience. We then were fortunate enough to also see the play. Do not miss this.
A LAUGH A SECOND12/13/2002
We have seen this movie showing in Palm Springs 5 times and have waited for it to come out on DVD! It has to be one of the BEST MOVIES of the year. It has been showing everyday in Palm Springs, CA. for over a year and still fills up the theater! You have to see this movie more than once to catch all the side spliting jokes! The actors are GREAT! I am sure that every family in America can relate to at least one of the family members! The only reason it got a R rating is because it has a couple of GAY parts in it. It is not done rudly. If it was the same with Heterosexuals it would be a PG-13! Don't be put off by the rating. You will not be disappointed if you get this movie. I am getting a few more for gifts for people that have not had the oppertunity to see this movie in their cities.
