When Rosie is born, everyone, including the animals in the forest, knows that she is special. No one knows Rosie's true identity; they just know there's something different about her. On the day she is to be named, the evil fairy Pernicia casts a spell upon Rosie: someday, when she least expects it, she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and fall into a sleep, never to awake again. In order to protect Rosie, a fairy named Katriona takes her away to raise her. But even though Katriona keeps her hidden away, the terrible Pernicia is looking for her, seeking revenge. All the people and animals in the kingdom are worried that Pernicia's power may be too strong for them.
