The aim of this book is to show how Sraffa's theoretical contributions could be pursued in new directions. It investigates some of these as stemming variously from the historical traditions of classical economics, from Adam Smith and from Marx and Keynes. It also explores some of the influences Sraffa had on his contemporaries in the Cambridge of the inter-war years, in particular on Wittgenstein. It would appear that the thematic ramifications of this approach have not been taken up sufficiently hitherto.
