Customer Reviews of Star Wars: The Old Republic
have to pay monthly8/6/2013
The game is good one to play. If you like MMOs you will probably like this game. The game does seem more PvE focused. I say this because I am 4/5 of the way to level cap & I have only seen the enemy faction a handful of times in the open world. There are three warzones, that are instanced PvP scenarios like most MMOs offer.
Compared to other MMO's this game is much more ambitious which is a good thing. The graphics are way better than WOW's, if you have a fast enough computer. But even at the lowest graphics setting it still looks good. They have made a lot of updates and improvements to the game since it came out. It is their first real MMO and people expect a perfection (WOW was not great when it first came out. People forget this detail). Don't listen to the negative chatter about this game. Decide for yourself and you will see how great The Old Republic is.
Played a scoundrel and am having tons of fun. I was skeptical about the voice acting, but quests begin introduced that way instead of a 4 paragraphs of text coming up actually makes pay attention and get the story. Combat is fun but still very MMO-ish. It's a Star Wars game so the setting is awesome. So far I'm loving it. Never could quite get to loving WOW, maybe it was the fantasy setting, but I've been hooked, can't wait to try a new class and see their story.

Reviewed the system requirements before purchasing this game. Son has played numerous Star Wars games before & wanted this one. Did not realize subscription was required for this game-- at $15 per month. You get 30 days free, but you can't even use those without a credit card, which my son does not have. In my opinion, if you pay this much for a game, you ought to be able to play it without paying more each month.
