Favorite Sci-Fi Series

by Chris Knight on 3/26/2009

Stargate SG-1 is one of my favorite sci-fi series. The action with just the right added dose of humor makes it fun for my wife and I to watch. We are watching all the seasons on DVD through Netflix, however I decided to start buying them instead from after Netflix was missing a Season 5 disc. We just started Season 6 and are thoroughly enjoying it. Read More

ReviewSource The DVD Report
Review A sequel to the 1994 movie Stargate, Stargate SG-1 is one of the premiere science-fiction series on television. First airing in July 1997, the show has been nominated for 7 Emmys and 23 Saturn Awards. The brainchild of creator Dean Devlin, producer of such Hollywood blockbusters as Independence Day (1996) and The Patriot (2000), Stargate SG-1 chronicles the further adventures of the Stargate Command (SGC) as Earth and its citizens advance forward into a new era of space exploration...The Stargate SG-1 (Season 3) DVD features a number of exciting episodes including the season premiere "Into the Fire" in which General Hammond heads up a bold rescue effort, along with Teal'c, to save the remainder of the SG-1 team.

Review Entering its third season in the fall of 1999, Stargate SG-1 had garnered a devout following and held a firm position on television. Creators Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner had constructed a sturdy foundation with the first two seasons and now were able to expand the science-fiction series even further. Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, and Christopher Judge had all developed individual aspects of their characters, who would all be tested greatly during these 22 episodes.
