Just the thing for virtual server host11/28/2010
Needed extra network support for a server hosting a handful of vms, and this card was 2 or three times less expensive than offerings from Intel, Broadcom and others. It installed in way under a minute in a Dell ProEdge T310 server, and installing Windows 2008 R2 Standard recognized the card and installed drivers automatically. I have not bothered to run any real performance testing on these NICs, as there are not heavy loads on my vm servers which are maily for testing. In a production environment, with heavy use, it would be worth investigating if you sacrfice peformance for price. If same level as those pricy cards, then this is a real bargain. Did have one transient issue. I first tried using Hyper-V Server Manager, and it did not recognize the card when I installed the hardware nor could I get it to recognize the drivers (which W 2008 R2 did). To work around this, I think but have not tired, install W 2008 R2 Core instead of Hyper-v Server Manager.
Works as promised9/6/2010
I bought it for my hackintosh. Works as promised. Natively recognized by 10.6.4 as 4 x Realtek 8169 by the AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext. Also automatically recognized by Win 7 Ult 64 bit without need for driver CD. Buy.com does not mention MAC OSX compatibility but the startech.com website does.
