When the coach assigns right-fielder Alfie Maples of the Peach Street Mudders to give some tips to new player Roberti Frantelli, Alfie readily agrees. However, Alfie is shocked when, after all his training, Roberti is given Alfie's position on the team. B&w illustrations accompany the text.
Author Bio
Matt Christopher
Matt Christopher was a semiprofessional baseball player until an injury permanently benched him. His first book, THE LUCKY BASEBALL BAT, was published in 1954. Christopher's specialty is writing children's books with a sports theme--not just limited to his personal specialty, baseball, but also football, hockey, basketball, and a variety of other sports. His more recent works, while still focusing on a sports theme, have also added elements of mystery, fantasy, and the supernatural.
