A Sondheim Lover's Must Have1/22/2007
For all Stephen Sondheim musical fans, this is a must have. The original 'Sunday in the Park ...' cast from Broadway shines with a great cast and wonderful music. Being filmed as a live production, the quality is excellent ... but of course does not replace the live experience. The 1st act is the more interesting part of the story with the historical references to Georges Seurat and his life painting his favorite model and includes the more inspiring music and visual beauty when the painting is complete. The 2nd act is in more modern times, much fictionalized but brings the story full circle.
