Customer Reviews of Supersonic SC-199 9" TV/DVD Combo - 16:9 - ATSC - USB
All I wanted was a small TV to see local news shows since I don't have cable. I could not make this thing work at all. Sometimes a button would work, most of the time it wouldn't work even to simply turn it on. It is in a box in the closet. Return policy states I could return it if not opened. What's up with that?

I did not pay attention to all the other features before I bought, but now I wish I had. I was only interested that it could play blu-ray/dvds and was portable which was the only thing I had wanted it for. I've been watching this and many other blu-ray players for some time now. I've been watching the price. This is the cheapest price I've seen it. $180 or so... The blu-ray quality is amazing. I love the free-style too so I can switch or move the screen if their is a glare. :) comes in handy :) The sd card slot is available. This is what I didn't know it had. I haven't used this feature yet. The playback works ok, except I don't really use it that much. The screen is really big. :) 4 hours of battery which is enough to watch 2 long movies or 3 short ones. It also plays cds but I have only tested blu-rays and dvds on it so far
I was looking for a TV that I could use in the event of an extended power failure as happened in my part of Houston a couple of years ago after hurricane Ike. At that time a small battery-powered black and white TV I had which ran on 8 "D" cells maintained my wife and I's sanity, but now it wouldn't work any more since broadcasts are all-digital. When I looked for a digital replacement the problem I encountered was that virtually all the models have Lithium Polymer rechargeable batteries, which are only good in a PF until they are discharged. However, most, including this one, come with a 12V car cigarette lighter adapter. The solution I found was to buy an adapter from Autozone which has a cigarette lighter socket and clamps designed to connect directly to a 12V car battery. However my solution is to use 2 6V "lantern" batteries, each of which contains 4 D cells in series, I believe. With another pair of clamps (from Frys - intended for a test meter) I am able to provide a 12V source of power using 2 lantern batteries in series. I tried this with this TV, and it works perfectly! However I also liked this model because it is 9 inch. includes a DVD player, plus a USB Flash drive socket and sockets for SD and MS flash memory cards. It also includes an antenna with a magnetic base (probably intended to be mounted on the metal roof of an automobile)
