|Many people are surprised to discover that Maya Banks, an author known in large part for her erotica, is the product of a conservative, religious family. A lifelong Southerner who once worked as an emergency medical technician, she lives in Texas with her husband, three children, and plethora of pets. On her Web site, she describes an ordinary life of hunting and fishing with her family and attending her daughter's softball games. "My goal is not to bore my readers to death and if any part of my life inserted itself into my stories, I'm afraid my books would be one big yawn fest," she told an interviewer. Banks had always been an avid reader, and while she enjoyed penning stories as an elementary-school student, she never seriously considered writing as a career path. She changed her mind after her third child was born, and she was searching for a job that would allow her autonomy and flexibility. Her first book, SEDUCING SIMON, a contemporary romance featuring firemen, was published in 2006. Banks has since written more than 50 novels. Among the most popular are her historical Scottish romances; her Coulter series, which features a trio of brothers who willingly share one woman; and her sexually explicit Sweet series, which includes such titles as SWEET SURRENDER, SWEET TEMPTATION, and SWEET SEDUCTION.
