Customer Reviews of T-Fal FR7008002 Ultimate EZ Clean Pro-Fryer Stainless-Steel 2-2/3-Pound Deep Fryer
This machine is brilliantly simple, easy to use, easy to take apart and clean, and so well thought out it might not have another that can best it.
Great fryer, Cindy whom wrote the prior review either had a defective unit or did not use the drain plug properly causing her unit to spill the oil. No appliance as we all know functions as we would like however as far as fryers go this unit is great.
Temperature doesn't even come close to 374 degrees2/10/2011
I tried to separate the paragraphs to make this long review easier to read but the system keeps putting it all back together in one single paragraph---sorry. I love the way it filters the oil (most of the time). It has on occasion leaked everywhere when draining for no explanation. It was the same oil as was filtered before without a problem so I know it was not a "too much oil in pan" problem. But it sure makes a mess when it does that and you never know when that might happen. But my worst complaint about it is the fact that IT DOES NOT COME CLOSE TO PROPER FRYING TEMPERATURE IN THE OIL. I've been frying for 30 years so I know what oil looks like when it is frying at the proper temperature. I knew instantly that something was not right with the temperature because my few mozzarella cheese sticks basically looked like they were just sitting and barely simmering in the oil when I put them down. I got out my oil thermometer and checked and the temp was only 335 degrees. I got out a second thermometer and it agreed with the first 335 degrees. The basket was not over loaded so that could not be used as an excuse either. When you put a normal amount of food in it, the temp drops to about 300 degrees and stays there for a lot of time before the heater element can get it back up to 335 degrees. For the first 4 months my fryer spent more time out of my house than in it. Buy.com replaced it twice but the temp was still poor so I finally sent it to T-Fal who insisted there was nothing wrong with it. It went back and forth several times, with me sending pictures of the temperature on my thermometer but T-Fal insists that it heats to 374 and sends it back. I finally made them send me a picture of their temperature guage and it looks like they are testing the fryer directly at the heater element in the back of the machine. But they insist that the oil makes it to 374. But with 30 years of frying experience and with grease soaked food coming out of it I can tell you it is not. It does great for a few fully cooked chicken nuggets or a small handful of fries but beyond that it is terrible. If you want to cook raw breaded chicken tenderloins you practically have to burn them to get them done on the inside as the temperature is so low you have to leave them in much longer to cook the center of the meat. I really like the filter idea but they need to improve on the sliding switch so that the plastic thing on the oil pan opens properly 100% of the time. And most importantly they need to give it more wattage to get that temp up to a higher temperature and keep it up (quicker recovery period). Minor annoyances: the ready light needs to be out more where you can see it as it is hidden behind the dial. The light needs to come ON when it is ready and not go off when it is ready -- the reason -- the cord falls off easily in the back with just a minor bump so here you are thinking it is ready because the light is out but in all reality the cord just fell off and the grease is cold. The white paint for the name and the readings wipes off easily from the hot grease that will splatter on it when checking the food.
T-Fal deep fryer12/30/2010
I have had a great experience with the order, delivery and the product itself. The order was filled accuratelly, delivery was actually better than expected and although we have only used the fryer once so far the product seem to perform as the description says and all is well. Good job....
We love our new fryer and the clean up was a breeze.
Just finished using fryer for first time last night and this unit did EVERYTHING that was advertised. The only reason I gave it an overall satisfaction of 4 instead of 5 was the fact it was missing a timer, but that really is not a big deal at all. I have NEVER had a fryer that was easier to clean. It did not leak as stated in a couple other reviews, the only reason I think it might have done that was the use of too much oil. Again, I cannot state enough how happy I am with this purchase.
Execellent replacement for "old-dependable&qu10/17/2009
This is very nice unit. I bought a TFal fryer 18 years ago, it still worked, but it had a buildup of fried on oil on it from long term use. I was also growing tired of the work involved cleaning the oil after using it. This new TFal fryer (T-Fal FR7008002 Ultimate EZ Clean Pro) was a perfect replacement for old-dependable. I was reluctant to purchase this item after reading reviews of the auto oil cleaning feature making messes. I have NOT had any issues with that feature, I never overfill the fryer with oil. That's the only reason I can think of that would cause problems, just keep the level between the Min and Max lines. Cleanup is a breeze, everything can go into the dishwasher, except for the heating element. The build quality looks good, the element looks like a high quality element. It's a 1700 watt element, it does a decent job of keeping the oil at the selected temperature. I would reccomend this fryer to others. Just note that the fryer is bigger than it appears in the pictures. But the oil cleaning feature makes it worth the extra space consumed.
Almost Perfect Home Fryer6/11/2009
I have given this fryer a good workout several times now and I really like it. It heats up and recovers quickly and seems to be well built, I expect many years of service from it. There are a couple things I would change to make it "perfect" in my opinion and others have also mentioned these same things. First a timer would be nice but I usually have onother timer handy. Second, since the power cord comes undone so easily for safety reasons I wish it had a power light that is on anytime the power is on. The only other thing I would change is the location of the "heating" light so it could be seen more easily. These are all pretty minor things, I would still buy it again knowing what I know now. The oil filtering and storage is great and why I chose this unit in the first place. I think clean-up if very easy for a fryer. It still looks brand new after several uses including going camping with us.
T-Fal Ult. EZ Cleans Needs Timer5/6/2009
This fryer needs a timer to get an overall satisfaction rating of 5. I rate it a 4.7. Compared to a Fry Daddy: Clean-up is a 5+ Love the auto-drain and filter feature. No need to handle the oil after you are done cooking. Set the unit to auto-drain then clean it up once it has cooled (it takes about 3 hours). Except for the heating element everything will go in the dishwasher. Minimum spatter if food is dry. The stainless steel finish allows for a quick clean-up and a fresh look with a damp cloth. Ease of use 5+ Heats up to 375° F in about 10 minutes. Temp dropped to 320° then recovered nicely while making french fries from fresh potatoes. Plenty of space for frying your favorite food. It fries a chicken conveniently. The cover allows moisture to vent and minimize splatter but you can't see what the food is doing because the window fogs over. I am getting a digital timer to put by the unit. The lack thereof is a disappointment. For its size it is very light. Takes up a fair amount of space so you need to allow for storage area.
Great Deep Fryer5/4/2009
After doing a lot of research, I chose this T-Fal Deep Fryer. I am totally pleased with my purchase! It heated up well and the temperature stayed constant. It was so easy to clean as everything except the cord and element can go right in the dishwasher! Having the oil being filtered automatically after using it is such a bonus. Wish that I would have bought this a long time ago!!
This T-Fal deep fryer is really nice. It works great. Is easy to clean.(you can put everything except the AC cord and heating element in the dishwasher) The oil storage system is unique to T-Fal and works perfectly. We would NOT consider buying any other deep fryer.
This purchase was an upgrade from our last deep fryer. I am extremely pleased with the design and ease of use. Clean-up is simple with all but the control unit going in the dishwasher. While I do not believe in reusing oil numerous times the filter system works well and can save you money with reusing oils. Well worth the money, I would recommend the T-Fal Deep Fryer.
Great Fryer with GREAT features11/11/2008
I love this fryer! I fry in olive oil and it's very expensive. It usually costs between $18-20 per gallon. This fryer automatically filters the used oil after it's cooled and the oil is stored in a sealed reservior located under the frying pot. You never have to touch the oil. When you are ready to use the fryer again, just remove the storage reservior, take off the cap and pour the oil back into the fry pot. The manual says the oil can be reused 8-12 times...this is a huge savings! Only flaw is the "reached temperature" light is located at an angle behind the thermstat knob and is difficult to see. Overall, I would recommend this fryer to everyone.
Good fryer, Clean up is tricky10/3/2008
After much research I bought this fryer. I like the fact that the element sits in the oil which, I think it keeps temp more consistant. All the parts, excecpt the element and control panel fit in the dishwasher for easy clean-up. The only problem...and it's a messy one.... is that if the plastic oil container isn't lined up just so; oil will leak EVERYWHERE when it's draining. After a couple of adjustments I got it and will make sure all is lined up before making that mess again. The power cord attaches magnetically to the back of the unit and it is short.....and will unattach easily. Overall, I'm very plesed with my purchase.
