|The Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Autofocus Lens is a quality compact ultra tele zoom which covers the 70mm to 300mm telephoto range with a macro magnification ratio of 1:2 (1/2 life size) at the 300mm setting -- ideal for shooting subjects that are difficult to approach such as sporting and theatrical events. Di (Digitally Integrated Design) is a designation Tamron puts on lenses featuring optical systems designed to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras. Di lenses are designed for superior use on both digital and film SLR cameras. The optical system also incorporates a LD (Low Dispersion) lens resulting in clear sharp images free of chromatic aberration. This lens delivers ultimate handling ease and portability in the field due to its lightweight size and mechanical operation. It is best suited for shooting outdoors to make full use of the real telephoto of 300mm as well as providing diversity in portraiture using the medium focal length ranges of 70mm to 135mm. The Tamron 70-300mm Di LD Macro Lens made for the Nikon SLR system incorporates a motor built into the lens itself which gives it the capability to autofocus with all Nikon DSLR cameras (including cameras without an AF Motor). In addition with the motor built into the lens focusing will be quieter and more responsive. Key Features: Di Design: Digitally Integrated is a designation Tamron puts on lenses featuring optical systems designed to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras. By employing Internal Surface Coatings and multiple-layer coating technology on ordinary elements ghosting and flare due to reflections that occur when light enters through the front element and reflections caused by the imagers themselves are reduced to the absolute minimum. Macro Effect of 1:2 in Telephoto Zoom Range: Flipping a macro switch in the focal length range of 180mm to 300mm allows entry into the macro range for photography as close as 37.4 (95 cm) from the subject. In the macro range one can take advantage of the telephoto effect and a maximum magnification ratio up to 1:2. In addition since the focal length in the macro range spans from 180mm to 300mm zooming can also be used to adjust composition. LD Glass: LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements reduce various aberrations while minimizing the fall-off of light at the corners. Built-In Motor: Gives the lens the capability to autofocus with all Nikon DSLR cameras (including cameras without an AF Motor)|
Awesome Lens - Great Price8/30/2011
I wanted a 70-300mm lens. The Tamron is easy to put on the camera and takes amazingly crisp photos. It is a tad heavy but then it is a big lens!
Buy one !!!8/30/2011
I would definitely buy this lens again. Works flawlessly.

Bang for the buck!8/30/2011
I bought Tamron over Nikon due to the price and the bonus of the Macro functionality. Only negative point...sometimes the lens seems to hunt and be slow in focusing compared to my Nikon 55-200. I use it mostly for wildlife and macro. The Tamron lens has worked out well and I am very happy with it. I think I made a wise purchase!
Tamron 70-300mm lens for Nikon AF8/30/2011
Uses camera in office and on road construction sites. Truly impressed with the durability and reliability of the lens. My heart sunk when the camera was returned to my office after being dropped in concrete slurry. I let it dry overnight and used a No. 10 Chinese bristle brush to remove the dried on mud and then lens cleaner to clean the lens. Luckily there were no scratches to the lens and it still works as great as the day it arrived.
I am very happy with this lens.. Spending so little on such a macro/zoom lens I really wasn't expecting the overall quality of the lens to be as good as it is.. I considered the equivalent Nikon and Sigma Lenses but decided to get the cheapest lens I could that would work with my D40.. I have really been happy with the macro of this lens and it has been a huge added bonus. I have the 55-200 Nikon AFS but I wanted a little more reach for wildlife shots... This does add a little more... My only complaint is the zoom ring is a little sticky and not nearly as smooth as the Nikons...
Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro8/30/2011
This is a very good lens for the money. I used it on a Nikon D60 to start with but now on a D90. It is fairly light weight and focus is quick but a little noisey.
I use it for school events as seating is never good. Always take it to NASCAR for close up shots. Really nice lens and equipment.
My Girlfriend love it8/30/2011

Good lens and Good value8/30/2011
Originally I bought this lens as a replacement for a previous telephoto lens that I had owned (also a Tamron) and honestly I was surprised with the quality of the 70-300 Di LD lens since I had thought that this was going to be only a slight upgrade compared to my previous one. I found that it was a VERY nice upgrade. The build and construction were infinitely better than the other one I had handled and the AF motor built into the lens itself is very nice especially for newer Nikon cameras. My only complaint is that the auto focus is a little slow sometimes. It seems to take the longest to focus if there's a lot of scenery or low contrast around the subject but otherwise it's not bad. It seems to do a preliminary focus (and even if you take the shot then you'll still get a pretty good shot) but then after that it fine tunes it a little more. But like I said it just depends on the contrast and if there are potentially distracting things in the background. For portrait photography it doesn't seem to be as much of a problem and focuses rather quickly and overall I'm really happy with this lens. It's a keeper in my gadget bag.
Pretty Good Lens8/30/2011
If I have to leave one it would be that for an inexpensive lens it works well.
Great product and love it.8/30/2011
Was a gift for daughter in law and she loves it.
Great performance so far8/30/2011
I have a Nikon D3000 and it is definitely compatible and considerably cheaper than a Nikon lens! Absolutely love it. It has given me some great sport action shots!
