Great value for the price6/5/2008
I am happy with this purchase. I have been looking for an audio stand based on "design/price" value for some time now. The nice ones that I found were expensive and others in this price range were either not good design or did not have the appeal. When I ordered SF50 (after reading customer reviews), I was not sure how it would turn out to be but the design appeared to have all the attributes that I was looking for in an audio stand. Also the price at buy.com is very competitive. The unit arrived via Fedex on time. I spent couple of hours to assemble it. The instructions were pretty good. What I found is that if you do a good job assembling it, the unit is very sturdy. There are two shelves that are fixed and two can be adjusted (excluding top and bottom). The glass door is easy to install and provides easy access to all components. It also adds to the overall appeal of the stand. Wheels are valuable allowing this stand to be moved easily for easy access to wires or to hook up components but they don't have stoppers. Overall a nice "design/price" value product.
Good for the money3/29/2007
I was looking for a cheap audio rack solution to recess in a wall for my hometheater. Obviously, I ended up buying the TechCraft SF50. For the money, I think it is great. It took me 30 minutes to assemble. I used an electric screwdriver (not needed) for the majority of the screws (16 of them for the 4 wheels on the bottom ... wheels to not have locks on them which may pose problems for people with hardwood floors). Instructions are well labeled and really aren't needed if you've built furniture from IKEA or the like. It will be a little wobbly (side to side) if you plan not to use every shelf (2 are stationary: bottom and middle, 3 are adjustable between). I am using all 5 shelves and it is sturdy (especially once the components were in). It says the shelves support about 40 pounds. The glass door installs easily and can be hung to open left or right. I am not using the piece of fabric which velcros to the back or the cardboard cutout which you can nail to the back as I do not need it.
