Learn more about Terminator:
|In the year of Darkness, 2029, the rulers of this planet have devised the ultimate plan. They will reshape the future by changing the past. The plan requires something that feels neither pity, pain, nor fear--a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Part man, part machine, the Terminator is sent back to present-day Earth to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), a young woman whose life will have great significance in the years to come. Sarah has a single ally--Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), a young soldier sent from the future to protect her. The fate of the world lies with two humans who must defeat an unstoppable killing machine--the Terminator. When casting The Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger was considered for Kyle Reese, the hero, and Lance Henricksen was cast as the cyborg from the future. But after reading the script, Schwarzenegger asked for the villain's role, and a movie legend was born.|

Editor's NoteJames Cameron's THE TERMINATOR is one of the tightest, tensest sci-fi films ever made and a landmark in the genre. In the year 2029, battles rage between the superintelligent machines that rule the world and the last vestiges of humanity. In late-20th-century Los Angeles, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) suddenly finds herself stalked by an unstoppable killing machine--a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) sent from the future to kill her and her unconceived son, John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance. Sarah can rely only on Reese (Michael Biehn), a soldier sent from the future to protect her from the seemingly indestructible Terminator and save humanity. This low-budget masterpiece was the breakthrough film for director Cameron, who weds special effects, thrills, and understated romance to create one of the finest action films of the 1980s, which spawned many imitations but few equals. Science fiction author Harlan Ellison sued over the film's similarities to his own works, especially the OUTER LIMITS episode "Demon with a Glass Hand," and won acknowledgement in the film's credits. Schwarzenegger will forever be known as the relentless Terminator, a heartless killing machine who returns (in a kinder, gentler form) in 1991's TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY.
The Terminator - DVD Review

|I'll never forget the first time I saw James Cameron’s The Terminator. I must have watched that movie at least 100 times during my youth. But during the 101st viewing, the VHS copy I stole from my uncle Dave’s video collection was eaten by my crappy old-school, top-loading VHS player. Damn, that sucked. The Terminator stands as a personal favorite. Schwarzenegger was in his prime in the 1980s -- in guilty pleasures like Commando, Raw Deal, Predator, Conan The Barbarian, and The Running Man. But he gave many kids my age something to hang on to during the Reagan years. Schwarzenegger was our generation's John Wayne, a muscle-bound bodyguard extracting his own kind of vengeance from a cold and dangerous world....read the full review|

Terminator - Excellent beginning5/31/2013
I've enjoyed this movie over the years and decided I needed to add it to my collection. This movie is a little dated now; but it's still fun to watch. T-2 is a better movie overall, but it's good to see the beginning again to fully appreciate the series.
GREAT MOVIE, YEAH, BUT WHAT WAS THE STUDIO THINKING WHEN THEY RELEASED THIS CLASSIC ON DVD, MONOPHONIC SOUND! ARE YOU KINDING? MOST DVD OWNERS ENJOY THE SOUND THAT DVD PROVIDES AS WELL AS THE SUPERIOR PICTURE AND EXTRAS. THE STUDIO TOOK MORE TIME TO EXPLAIN WHY IT DIDN'T ENHANCE THE SOUND THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE. MANY GREAT MOVIES HAVE BEEN DIGITALY REMASTERED AND THAT INCLUDES THE SOUND TRACK. ALL YOU FANS OF THIS MOVIE WATCH T2 IN 5.1 THEN THE ORIGINAL AND TELL ME YOU DON'T AGREE!
Fun to watch5/24/2012
I grew up watching this movie. The special effects are obviously from the 80's but isn't bad. The plot is interesting and asks questions as to what will happen if technology continues to advance. The acting was okay, but could have been better. I very much recommend this product as a fun adventure movie.
I bought the T1 and T2 to replace my video tapes. T1 arrived in its wrapper and when i opened it, there was a scratch on the digital side. I did play it with no skipping or any problems. T-2 was in great shape, had the extra features I wanted. I purchased these only because of the Terminator- Sara Conner Chronicals T.V. show. I ordered these with no extra shipping cost and it took 4 days to get them.
simply a classic!11/3/2001
I only rated the cinematography a 3 because the original was a budget film and I know the VHS tapes and their original mono soundtrack left so much to be desired. I haven't viewed this re-release yet but I've been looking forward to it since I first heard they were going to remaster it. That said, this has got to be just about my favorite action movie of all time. Though it was on a budget and the effects technology of the time was still kind of in it's infancy the special effects blew my mind. The ending sequence after the truck fire (if there really is anyone out there who still hasn't seen this flick I won't ruin the ending for you!) still sends a shiver up my spine coupled with that adrenaline rush! "Ahnowld" really made a name for himself with this great, classic movie. If you're already a fan of the movie, this remastered version should be a great treat for all of us, finally allowing us to see and hear it the way it should have been. If you've never seen it, what are you waiting for? This one defines action-movie entertainment!
Terminator Special Edition10/20/2001
What I really like about this new DVD is that they remixed the Audio to up-date to today's sound system standards to make it sound excellent. The old The Terminator DVD was so flat I had to turn up the bass and treble to just start getting the feel of it. This Special Edition is remixed and is excellent to TURNUP the volume! Enjoy!
