EXCELLENT ACCURATE ACCOUNT

DAVE & ESTHER SCOVILL standout as missionaries 'ahead of their time' It was my honour to have known both of them during my two years in Papua and being with them on a subsequent visit which is detailed in their sensitive and moving booklet David. David was an expert missiologist, ethnomusicologist and had deep insight into the Dani culture from an anthropological perspective. His expertise regarding the traditional religious belief of the Dani is a standard work still today. His book 'The Amazing Dani' is a must read for any person seriously desiring to comprehend the Dani for its insightfulness, its comprehensive understanding of Dani life is invaluable. The more 'colourful' and somewhat spurious Hyder photo journalism 'Gardens of War' thesis and enterpolation from a person with little experience with the Dani pales in insignificance when considering this current publication "The Amazing Danis' This book is highly recommended for the would be traveller, any one desiring to work with the Danis and emphatically necessary for any missionary involvement.
