Author Bio
Samuel E. Morison
Samuel Eliot Morison received his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1912. He also studied in France and at Oxford University. He taught at Harvard from 1925 until he died in 1976. He was also affiliated with New York University. Morison's ADMIRAL OF THE OCEAN SEA, a biography of Columbus, won a Pulitzer Prize. He is perhaps best known for two multivolume works, THE EUROPEAN DISCOVERY OF AMERICA and THE OXFORD HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES.
