Author Bio
Chris Van Allsburg
Chris Van Allsburg studied art and sculpture at the University of Michigan and the Rhode Island School of Design. A talented sculptor, Van Allsburg was encouraged to create picture books by author/illustrator David Macaulay. His first book, THE GARDENS OF ABDUL GASAZI, was published in 1979. JUMANJI, published two years later, won the Caldecott Medal, as did 1985's THE POLAR EXPRESS.Lemony Snicket is the notorious pen name of Daniel Handler, author of the enormously popular, extremely funny Series of Unfortunate Events books. Handler went to Wesleyan University, and resides in the city of his birth, San Francisco. Under his name, he has written adult novels, including THE BASIC EIGHT, WATCH YOUR MOUTH, and ADVERBS.
