From the Publisher:
Best-selling storytellers share tales inspired by the thought-provoking illustrations in Chris Van Allsburg's The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, in a volume that includes contributions by such writers as Kate DiCamillo, Stephen King and Jon Scieszka. Simultaneous.
Annotation:
Fourteen of the best children's and adult authors alive today have each written a story inspired by illustrations from Chris Van Allsburg's very popular picture book, THE MYSTERIES OF HARRIS BURDICK. Fantasy, magical realism, and oddball plots abound here, as perplexing and fascinating as the illustrations themselves. Sherman Alexie, Kate DiCamillo, Stephen King, Lois Lowry, and Gregory Maguire are just five on the award-winning roster included.Fourteen of the best children's and adult authors alive today have each written a story inspired by illustrations from Chris Van Allsburg's very popular picture book, THE MYSTERIES OF HARRIS BURDICK. Praise

"Like any short story anthology, the styles and subjects of its many contributors are wide-ranging, even surprising in the directions they travel with such scant pictorial information.... All provide novel and new insights to the mysterious illustrations that have captivated Van Allsburg fans for decades." - Susan Carpenter 10/23/2011
