Annotation:
Toying with the thin line between guilt and innocence--and how quickly a person can slip, or be pushed, from one side to another--bestseller John Grisham whips up another highly charged legal thriller with THE CONFESSION. In 1998, a man in Texas named Travis Boyette committed a heinous crime and got away with it. Another, innocent man named Donté Drumm was convicted and given the death penalty. Years have passed and Travis walks free, while Donté is days away from execution. What if Travis has a change of heart? What if he wants to confess and give this innocent man his life back? Is it too late? Why should anyone believe him now?
Author Bio
John Grisham
John Grisham woke up at 5:00 every morning for three years to complete his first novel, A TIME TO KILL. Working as a lawyer and a member of Mississippi's state legislature, Grisham published his debut thriller with a small and somewhat unknown publisher, receiving only local readership in his home state. He finally burst on to the national scene with his second novel, THE FIRM, a legal thriller that sold millions of copies and stayed on the New York Times best-seller list for 47 weeks. Shortly afterward, Grisham moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where he began working on a series of new legal thrillers, including THE PELICAN BRIEF and THE CLIENT, all of which became bestsellers and were subsequently made into successful films. Having graduated from the University of Mississippi in Oxford with a law degree in 1981, Grisham went on to base his popular thrillers on his experience as a specialist in criminal defense. His once-unknown debut, A TIME TO KILL, was made into a major motion picture in 1996.

Praise

"If Grisham's dialogue and narrative sometimes cross the line between storytelling and proselytizing about the evils of the death penalty, he compensates through meaty character portrayals and an unpredictable end to Drumm's story." - Carol Memmott 10/25/2010

"THE CONFESSION is the kind of frenetic, grab-a-reader-by-her-shoulders suspense story that demands to be inhaled as quickly as possible. It's also a superb work of social criticism in the literary troublemaker tradition of Upton Sinclair's THE JUNGLE." - Maureen Corrigan 12/15/2010
