Jeffery Fernol (1878 - 1952) was an English writer of romance / adventure stories. He is thought to be the co-founder of the Regency romantic genre. The Definite Object was published in 1917. Fernol was friends with a Hell''s Kitchen gangster whose life he had saved. The friendship brought Fernol into contact with fighters and unsavory characters which formed the basis for this novel. Fernol''s novels are full of romance, lively characters, and entertaining adventures, but you will not find four letter words, steamy bedroom scenes or elicit sex.
