Annotation:
Kidd, the outlaw hacker whom John Sandford introduced before writing his bestselling Prey series, returns in THE DEVIL'S CODE. When Kidd's friend Jack Morrison, an employee at the powerful Silicon Valley corporation AmMath, is killed, Kidd investigates--with a little help from his best friend LuEllen, a fearless burglar with a predilection for cocaine. Together, the pair uncovers a wasp's nest of corporate misconduct and global espionage.
Author Bio
John Sandford
After serving in the Korean War, John Sandford began his journalism career working in Missouri and Iowa before moving to Florida in 1970. He worked for "The Miami Herald" for eight years before moving again to Minnesota to work for "The Saint Paul Pioneer Press", where he became a popular columnist. In the mid-'80s, during what was then called the "Farm Crisis," Sandford, under his given name John Camp, wrote a five-part series focusing on the hardships of a Minnesota farming family. His reporting won him a Pulitzer Prize for feature writing. Several years later, Sandford published his first novel, "The Fool's Run", followed almost simultaneously by "Rules of Prey", the first novel in his popular Prey series, featuring policeman Lucas Davenport. Often revolving around a disturbing crime or demented criminal, the majority of Sandford's novels are psychological thrillers with tough characters and fast pacing.

Praise

Chicago Tribune
"[T]he book sails briskly along on Sandford's quick plotting and clever story." - Chris Petrakos 11/12/2000

New York Times Book Review
"Sandford racks up points for Kidd's sophisticated hacking skills and for capturing the sophomoric humor of paranoid computer geeks who probably wear their Lone Gunmen T-shirts to bed." - Marilyn Stasio 10/22/2000
