"Ken Bruen is hard to resist, with his aching Irish heart, silvery tongue and bleak sensibility--all on display in THE DRAMATIST."

Melancholy Irish PI Jack Taylor, now alcohol- and drug-free, returns for a fourth noir. Jack investigates the suspicious death of his ex-dealer's sister, discovered dead of a broken neck at the bottom of a staircase, lying atop a copy of a play by John Millington Synge. Although Jack is initially inclined to agree with the police's conclusion of accidental death, his opinion alters when another young woman dies under similar circumstances, also accompanied by a Synge play.
