Hoppi the bunny wants to win the egg-decorating contest so the Easter Bunny will choose him to help distribute Easter eggs, but instead, while everyone else is working on their decorations, he finds himself guarding an egg that has fallen from a robins nest. *Author: Brett, Jan *Publication Date: 2010/02/09 *Binding Type: School And Library *Grade Level: Preschool *Language: English *Depth: 0.25 *Width: 10.00 *Height: 11.00
From the Publisher:
Jan BrettÂ's lovable bunny hero, Hoppi, and her remarkable Easter Rabbit will enchant readers as they pore over illustrations filled with dazzling eggs made by Flora Bunny, Aunt Sassyfrass and others.

If Hoppi can make the best Easter egg, he will get to help the Easter Rabbit deliver the eggs on Easter morning. But it is not so easy. Discouraged, he goes into the woods to think when a blue robinÂ's egg tumbles out of its nest. Hoppi keeps it safe and warm until the baby bird hatches, and when the Easter Rabbit arrives, he chooses the empty blue eggshell to reward Hoppi for his kindness.

Spring is everywhere in gorgeous illustrations framed with pussy willows, flowering vines and flowers. Side borders feature busy rabbits making their unusual eggs and, in a border above, the RobinÂ's family drama unfolds.

A gatefold surprise reveals the Easter Rabbit.

Annotation:
Whoever decorates the most beautiful egg will get to help the Easter Rabbit deliver them, and Hoppi is determined to make something amazing. But everyone else's eggs are extremely fancy, and Hoppi isn't sure he's up to it. But when the little bunny saves a robin's egg that falls from a nest, he helps create something much more meaningful. With author Jan Brett's gloriously detailed illustrations and lots of wonderful borders filled with flowers and twigs and the like.

"Intricately colored spreads, in watercolor and gouache, follow a dizzying variety of rabbits as they prepare for Easter morning....Hidden details in the busy scenes invite close study..." - Julie Just 03/14/2010

"Bordered in pussy-willow twigs (which sport their own surprise), each spread offers the illustrator's patented triptych construction, with panels detailing other bunnies' activities flanking an elaborate tableau. Luscious." 03/01/2010
