A collection of simple works which introduce colors, shapes, numbers, animals, food, and nursery rhymes.
Denise Fleming knows what kids love. Her art has universal child appeal, with its vibrant colors and rich textures. She is known for her ability to enliven the most basic concepts?the concepts every child needs to learn in order to thrive.

For this big book edition of The Everything Book, Ms. Fleming has chosen the poems and concepts best suited for sharing with a large group of children. Bright, bouncy babies and exuberant toddlers abound in this joyful big book.
This compendium for young children includes nursery rhymes, poetry, and finger plays. It also serves as an introduction to such things as colors, the seasons of the year, numbers, shapes, the alphabet, and simple words. The colorful illustrations were created by pouring colored cotton fiber through hand-cut stencils. Named one of the Best Children's Books 2000 by Publishers Weekly.
Author Bio
Denise Fleming
Denise Fleming's career as an artist began when she was in the third grade and one of her paintings was reproduced on the cover of a magazine for teachers. Her career in children's publishing began in 1984 when she illustrated Alice Low's ALL THROUGH THE TOWN. The first book she both wrote and illustrated was 1991's IN THE TALL, TALL GRASS. Many of Fleming's picture book illustrations are "pulp paintings" which are created by forcing colored cotton pulp through hand-cut stencils. Her 1993 work IN THE SMALL, SMALL POND was named a Caldecott Honor Book.
