Marion Dane Bauer
Marion Dane Bauer was encouraged to become a writer by an aunt. Her first book, SHELTER FROM THE WIND, was published in 1976. Her novel ON MY HONOR, about a boy struggling with his part in the drowning death of a friend, was a Newbery Honor Book in 1987. She is well known for her candor in dealing with difficult subjects such as sexual abuse in FOSTER CHILD, psychological abuse in FACE TO FACE, and gay and lesbian issues in a collection she edited called AM I BLUE? COMING OUT FROM THE SILENCE.
