Industrialist Heathcliff Grimsly arrived in the sleepy hamlet of Morning Point, Connecticut. As the sole heir to the Grimsly Empire, he is greeted by his new neighbors with great respect and curiosity. As he spends time in the small town, Grimsly becomes acquainted with the superstitious locals and their bizarre and eerie legends. Grimsly eventually befriends the local fishermanas wife, Victoria, secretly falling in love with her. He then hatches a plan that will eliminate Victoriaas husband, so they can finally be together. His arrogance and pompous attitude cause his scheme to go awry, leaving the whole town in turmoil.
