Barbara Taylor Bradford landed her first writing job at the age of 16 at her hometown paper, "The Yorkshire Evening Post". She soon moved to London where, at the age of 20, she became a Fleet Street editor and columnist. She married film producer Robert Bradford and moved to America, where they bought homes in New York City and Connecticut.
