| In early 20th-century New York, Sacha Kessler''s ability to see witches earns him an apprenticeship to the police department''s star Inquisitor, Maximillian Wolf. With fellow apprentice Lily Astral, Sacha investigates who is trying to kill Thomas Edison. |
Annotation:
Set in an early 20th-century New York City where magic is everywhere and all ethnicities have their own special abilities, 13-year-old Sacha Kessler has the misfortune of being able to see witches. This makes him very valuable to the police, and he's assigned to an Inquisitor named Maximillian Wolf to learn all about policing magical wars. Paired with another apprentice, the horribly snotty Lily Astral, the two must find out who's plotting against Thomas Edison. Sacha's own family has secrets best kept away from the police, and when the case he's working on seems to be headed back to his own neighborhood of the Lower East Side, things get complicated.
